Starting Your Own Writing Journey

I'm so glad you're here. 
Writing has brought fulfillment to my life, and I know it will do the same for you, as well. 

I want to share part of my writing journey with you. I began my writing career in my late 40's (so it's never too late, my friend!). In just a few short years, I've signed with two book publishers, had 21 books published, and sold over 12,000 books!

I find it hard to believe myself. I am abundantly blessed. This has all come about in the last six years and during this entire time I have been employed full time and did all my writing in my spare time. So, you do not have to quit your job to enjoy writing success. 

I've had a lot of people talk to me about wanting to write. So many people have an idea or maybe they've written a few words or even started an outline, but that was it. Maybe they've kept their idea tucked away in the back of their mind, but that's as far as it gets. It's time to start to work. Get the story out of your mind and on paper. Write. Even if you do not like what you've written, just keep at it. Usually, first drafts aren't that great and need work. That is the norm. Writing is like everything else, the more you practice, the better you will get!  In the last few years, I have listened to so many people share their ideas for a book. I've heard some pretty amazing stories and I've encouraged each person to write them down.

A lot of people talk about writing a book, but only a few actually do it. 

Just do it!

It seems what stops a lot of people is self-doubt. I'm right there with you on that one. It took forty years for me to have enough confidence in myself to do it, but when I finally crossed that first hurdle, it was incredible. I so wished I would've started sooner. I was encouraged by one person who was teaching a writing class when I was working on a graduate degree. One person inspired me. One person took the time to tell me she enjoyed my story and that I should work on getting it published. Thank you, Anne Johnson! 

Maybe you're a bit overwhelmed with the entire process. I would love to be that 'one person' for you. I have helped people on their journey, and I love sharing ideas and being an encourager. The road can be a challenge, especially for beginners. I have learned the hard way that writing the book is only the beginning of the process. It will take as much hard work after you've written the book as it did while you were writing the book.
